After an eight-year long absence from her solo career, No Doubt frontwoman and recent judge of The Voice Gwen Stefani has returned with a reggae-tinged pop single, “Baby Don’t Lie.”
It’s her first piece of solo output since 2006’s “The Sweet Escape” and it’s a pretty broadly pop effort in line with 2012’s No Doubt record, “Push and Shove.” Stefani sounds shattered as she sings, “But there’s something behind those eyes / Those eyes / That you can’t that you can’t disguise / Disguise.”
Stefani has been rumored to be working on a new solo album with fellow Voice judge Pharell in recent months. The pop star will also make an appearance on Calvin Harris’ new album, “Motion”, next month.
