BTS member Jin only just recently finished his mandatory enlistment in the South Korean military, but he’s been sparing no time. The singer has already secured a spot as a torchbearer for the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics. Now, he’s venturing into the world of fashion.
On July 8, Fred Jewelry announced that Jin is its new Global Brand Ambassador. In an Instagram post, the French brand wrote, “Maison FRED is pleased to announce its new Global Brand Ambassador: Jin of 21st-century pop icons BTS. Both considerate and committed, with a perpetual smile and a great sense of humor, the eternal lover of life perfectly embodies the spirit of Maison FRED. His collaboration with The Sunshine Jeweler promises to shine with a unique sparkle.”
Fred Jewelry is a jewelry and watch brand founded in 1936 in Paris by Fred Samuel. The nickname Sunshine Jeweler comes from “his love of light and irrepressible joie de vivre,” according to parent company LVMH. Jin happens to be the brand’s first ambassador.
Previously, the BTS members were brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton, another LVMH subsidiary. Following the end of that contract and the start of the members’ enlistments, the members began to take on individual endeavors in the fashion industry. J-Hope was named as an ambassador for Louis Vuitton again, Suga became a member of Valentino’s menswear DI.VA.s, and Jimin was selected to be one of Dior’s global brand ambassadors. Jungkook has also starred in a number of campaigns as a Calvin Klein brand ambassador.
As the eldest member of BTS and the first to complete his enlistment, Jin enlisted in December of 2022 and was discharged (complete with a serenade) on June 12. So, this marks his first individual brand deal.
